Basic Recipe
Method: Pour
Coffee: 30g – Medium grind
Water: 500g – 95ºC
- Heat the water and place the filter paper in the dripper
- Rinse filter paper with warm water and add ground coffee
- Pour water over coffee in stages, allowing the coffee to bloom
- Swirl the V60 for a few seconds
- Enjoy the coffee after 3 – 3½ minutes
Step 1
Heat the water to 95ºC. If you don’t have a thermometer, bring the water to the boil and let it rest for around 30 seconds.
Step 2
Take your filter paper and fold it into a cone as instructed on the packet. Place the filter paper into the dripper and rinse through with some of the heated water to remove any taste of the paper.
Step 3
Pour the ground coffee into the centre of the filter paper as evenly as possible.
Step 4
Place the V60 over a cup or server and place on a scale. Make sure you Tare the scales to 0g. Start the timer and pour 50g of water into the cone to wet the coffee grinds. This is called the blooming stage. You will see small bubbles of gas being released from the coffee. After 45 seconds add a further 240g of water pouring in slow circular motions. At just over 1 minute add the remaining water. Carefully take the base of the V60 and swirl for a few seconds. This makes sure that all grinds are extracted evenly for the best taste.
Step 5
It should take between 3 and 3 ½ minutes to allow all of the water to pass through the coffee. If it takes longer that this, grind the coffee slightly finer, if it takes quicker than 3 mins, grind the coffee a bit finer. Your coffee is ready to enjoy!
